Meet Rod McDee and the Rod Squad

Our passion for building windows and doors that can withstand extreme weather conditions and other outside elements is hard to beat. However, a certain someone and his entire team have recently shown us that it can be done! And let’s just say that their dedication has absolutely wowed us.

Meet Rod McDee and his Rod Squad. We first knew Rod as our friendly CGI® IT specialist*. Then, he found out about our quality control practices — and things haven’t been the same since. After crowning himself “(volunteer) Head of R&D,” he quickly recruited his own dedicated team of impact aficionados, who are equally as passionate about ensuring our windows and doors are ready for anything.

Get to know the Squad

Rod McDee

It was definitely the cannon test that first caught Rod’s attention. The minute he saw that 2X4 blast out of a cannon and into a CGI® window, he was hooked! Now, it’s his mission to ensure our products can help keep your property protected from hurricanes, break-ins, noise pollution, and more. Along with his team, Rod can be found in our research and development labs devising new ways to put our products to the test. Frozen turkeys may or may not be included, and yes, he even owns his own cannon.

Penny

Co-founder of the “Rod Squad,” Penny is all about the science behind impact protection. Always ready with calculations to keep testing safe and accurate, she is so confident in the strength and dependability of our windows, she installed them in the new home she’s building. Penny says it feels like she’s living in her very own fortress.

Buzz

Buzz lives by a few simple words: “Don’t rest until you test.” At work or at home — which he updated with CGI® windows and doors — you’ll find him rigging new impact challenges. He loves spreading the word about our products and doesn’t understand why anyone would settle for less.

Debbie

Reining in Rod McDee isn’t easy, but we call his supervisor Debbie “The Rod Whisperer.” Whether she’s coaxing him out of the cannon or reminding him of his volunteer status, she’s got it under control. We hope!

Fire Suit Guy

A true mystery man and one of Rod’s oldest friends. We’ve never actually seen what he looks like — or learned his real name — but one day Fire Suit Guy showed up ready to put our windows and doors to the test. He’s been igniting our testing protocols ever since. And word has it that a face reveal could be imminent. Check out the RodCast on YouTube to solve the mystery.

Stay tuned for more Rod McDee & the Rod Squad adventures.
